The impact of AI on employment and the corresponding response of PRC labor law

Purpose
The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of artificial intelligence on China's labor market and discuss the corresponding solutions of China's labour law in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Design/methodology/approach
Upon reviewing a series of literature of the impact of artificial intelligence technology on China's labor market and the latest data from relevant research articles, this research analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence technology on China's labor market from three levels: macro environment, meso industry and micro individuals, and makes some predictions on the related development trend.
Findings
In the era of artificial intelligence, the previous highly organized employment model will gradually replaced by flexible working mechanism, bringing pressure of structural unemployment or technical unemployment to workers. However, the existing labor law system of PRC is still aimed at the socialized mass production mode of the industrial revolution, which is applicable to the highly organized and unitary mode of employment. There is an obvious problem of insufficient and unsuitable system supply in responding to the emerging labor relations issues. In the future, it is necessary for China to put forward legal solutions to enhance the re-employment ability of workers and protect the unemployed and gig workers.
Originality/value
This research focuses on the different levels of impact of artificial intelligence technology on the labor market in the context of mainland China, and explains the economic and sociological implications behind it, enriching the relevant research content. In addition, this paper enriches the research perspective by taking into account the need for legal regulation attached to the impact of AI technology on the labor market, and further discusses the legal solutions to ensure that AI technology operates on the right track and avoid its defects as much as possible.
